My Story
Well, Hello there! My name is April, I am a 14 year Licensed Esthetician in the Mitten State (born & raised)! I love what I do & enjoy making others feel comfortable & smooth in their own skin!
I offer Waxing, Facials & more to come! I am a busy mom always on the go! ( I have a 5 yr old & a 1 1/2 year old), I also have my fur babies, a sweet house cat, 3 Goats (they are crazy), and a chicken!
I love nature, wildlife, art fairs, photography, animals, the color green, baby giggles, exploring Michigan and much more!
I am so excited to gain new clientele along with my current clientele! The Smooth Mitten was est. in 2018 in the cozy village of Haslett! Hope to see you in the Spa!

hair must grow for 2 full weeks before your actual appointment, if you have shaved then 2-3 weeks

please no tanning BEFORE or AFTER your appointment (skin can be lifted)

for pain you can take some ibuprofen or pain reliever 30 mins prior to actual time of appointment

if on your menstrual cycle, please come in with fresh tampon (yes we can wax on your period, it might be a bit more painful, but YOU ARE TOUGH!)

Post Waxing

avoid lotions, creams, oils, etc after being waxed (this can highly irritate)

wear loose fitting pants or go commando

no tanning for 24-48 hours

no exfoliating for 24 hours, this includes a loofah, body mitt, any scrubs, etc.

EXERCISING (this causes FRICTION, sweating, this is a big no no!
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the hair need to be?
The hair needs to be grown for 2 weeks, if you have shaved and your appointment is scheduled the hair needs to grow for 2-3 weeks depending. The length of the hair needs to be about the length of a grain of rice or an eyelash.
Will the hair grow back thicker or become darker?
no way! This is a myth. Overtime with waxing and on a regular schedule your hair becomes thinner and more soft. with waxing you are removing the hair from the bulb at a force, which makes new hair growth slow down.
Will I be irritated after?
You will be slightly irritated after, more sensitive than anything. just avoid everything in the post appointment tips! sometimes people have a reaction called a histamine reaction. this is a bump that forms over the hair follicle that looks like a hive. usually this occurs for ppl who have extremely sensitive skin or have a high level of histimine in the body. hydrocortisone is applied if this happens and normally will go down in an hour or two. if it occurs more this time please call me at 989.482.1495!
Do you double dip, do you wear gloves?
I DO NOT DOUBLE DIP! GROSS! & YES I WEAR GLOVES! this is OSHA Standard and required by law!
How long does waxing last? and how often should I be waxed?
normally the waxing results last for just about 2 weeks. it really depends on your hair type! with waxing its a process to help keep your hair going on a cycle, the more often you keep it up the better the results. you must not shave in between waxing, this actually ruins the process, it's basically starting all over.
